Other $ Saving Tips

Garden
A garden is a great way to save money. It also teaches you and your family valuable of skills of work and reward. You can just buy one packet of seeds, have lots of food for your family, some to can and freeze for future use, and maybe even some to give to your neighbors. This is a great way to eat healthier and cheaper!

Couponing
I am not the best at this, but I like the idea of it. I am always keeping my eyes open for great deals. You can get some of your favorite foods for much cheaper if you find the right coupons. I also keep my eyes open for my canning and jam making supplies on sale and coupons. This last fall Harry and Davids was selling their peaches for 10c a lb. My husband and I got 126 lbs. It was a lot of work but very worth it. The leaves are gone and our grass is brown, but we are still enjoying peach freezer jam and canned peaches. Yum! Yum!

Sale Watching
My husband and I will only buy certain things when it is on sale, like our chicken and meats. We keep and excel spreadsheet of how cheap we have been able to get things and what time of year. A lot of times stores put their stuff on sale at the same time every year. By knowing what a great price is and an OK price is you won't be tricked into buying foods that say they are on sale when they really aren't. When we see things that are on sale, we usually buy lots of them, this might make our food budget go over for the month, but not buying the food or as much food the next month helps us to stay in our budget! This last fall Harry and Davids was selling their peaches for 10c a lb.
